Artemisia annua and Artemisia afra equally effective in curing diabetes

The WHO forecasts an alarming increase of diabetes in Africa, from 7, 020, 000 cases in 2000 to 18, 234, 000 cases in 2030, with a high death toll if no efficient and affordable cure is found. Children and adolescents account for almost half of all newly diagnosed cases of type 2 diabetes. And the death toll due to this disease is raising dramatically.

Diabetes mellitus (DM), commonly known as just diabetes, is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by a high blood sugar level over a prolonged period of time. A metabolic disorder is a disorder that negatively alters the body’s processing and distribution of macronutrients such as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness, amputation, kidney failure and heart disease. (Wikipedia)

During a large scale malaria/schistosomiasis trial Artemisia annua and Artemisia afra tisanes infusions for therapy and prophylaxis against malaria, a team of African doctors noticed that several patients who simultaneously suffered from diabetes saw their clinical signs alleviated. The patients were cured and sales significantly lowered the hepatic ASAT and ALAT values. Six months after the trial glycemic values stayed normal and stable.
